Hello; the glass may survive well enough but at least two things come to mind. One is that at least some of the stuff on my glass covers is mineral residue left behind after evaporation. Not sure the dishwasher soap will cut that. Let us know.

The other is I have gone to lengths over the years to keep soap away from my tanks. Not sure all the soap residue will be gone. Again let us know if you try.

The thought makes me cringe. Just spray with vinegar cover with paper towels and use a straight razor blade to easily remove any build up. No need to put them in the dishwasher.

+1. I don't think the dishwasher would remove the hardwater stains that have accumulated on the glass lids to be worth it. Everything else would wipe off.

If you're worried about soap residue give them a lick, if it doesn't taste soapy it's fine. It's non toxic enough for dishes, and the lids aren't even going to be in the water. Maybe a drip of condensation might get into the tank.

I went with the razor blade. Then a vinegar wipedown. It's clean enough. But the main concern was the glass breaking. Might still try the dishwasher when I get the chance for the finishing touch

Hello; No thanks on the lick although I get the point. The other things I question include the assumption that what a massive person can tolerate in terms of soap residue and the single drip of condensation.

People and fish have different tolerances for things so what may be of no impact for me may be a problem for the fish. I have been for a few decades careful to have clean hands and arms before I stick them into my tanks.

The condensation is much more that a drop or two. It is an ongoing and constant process. A glass cover will condense and drip all the time day after day.

Hahah lid licker
Hello; This could be the nickname of the year so far. Who do we apply it to? I wish Hendre Hendre was on this thread as we have been trying to pin a good nickname on him for a time.

Who is lid licker?

Okay haha.

Personally I'd just spray down and clean with vinegar to get rid of any mineral residue. Dishwasher seems a little unnecessary! Then again without soap it may give a good clean
