glass tank with deep scratch

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the tank is empt im trying to set it up and thats when i noteised it should i replace the side because i want to use this tank

Good luck - this is my biggest fear, as I have had large driftwood and moving it around I have banged up the tank a bit. The notion of the tank breaking just makes me nervous even though I have nothing wrong at this moment. Just over thinking it, ha.

I hope it works out!

fill it on your padio and leave it for a couple weeks or something.. unless its below freezing out then maybe garage? somewhere a blowout wont matter?

First question is how did you get this scratch? Did it just appear all of a sudden. Glass is very hard to scratch so I wouldn't risk using it. Even if you water test it for a couple of weeks, I still wouldn't use it. I would be afraid that it will blow out at any time especially if there are any temperature changes, The Doctor.

yeah i guess it's probably a bad idea, you can ignore my fill test advise if you don't want to risk it.. 100 gallons is a lot to have on your floor, it can fill a room with an inch or two of water. My 50g tank has all sorts of small scratches on the bottom from substrate but what you describe sounds like a "score" waiting for some pressure to help it break

it wasnt there when i bought it but do you think it could be from moving it around
