Honestly, if you were to put a full square brace on it you'd be fine filling it. I wouldn't put any serious wall bashers in there though. If you were to cut it down, I'd go with 24 inches max height without bracing, fill to 22ish.. you should be relatively safe.

With a good brace in place you'll be fine.
But as rivermud said just don't put any "wall bashers" in there.
Bout the only fish I could think of that you might put in there that would cause issues would be pacu's. But that's a small tank for them and any smaller fish that would fit in there comfortably won't pose any threat to the glass or you wife's carpet and your marriage.
