What are the positives and negatives to both ? Which would last longer (less likely to leak) ?

If glass whats better tempered or plate, and how thick should it be ?

If acrylic how thick ahould it be ?

Tank dimensions would be somewhere around 96x24or30x24

I know opinions will vary but just curious as to what the majority of you think.

Acrylic is lighter, clearer, and retains heat better than glass. For those dimensions, you could probably get away with 1/2" but 5/8" or 3/4" would be better.

Once you go acrylic you never go back to glass haha.

Thx for the feedback shookONES shookONES

Read conflicting opinion on its durability. Some say lasts long than a glass tank others say it doesnt. Whats your take ?
Also can you recommend a reputable builder ?

I will stick with glass just because I would be so paranoid about scratches during algae cleaning, plus I like having a fully open top.

Interesting vids. I.wasnt aware the acrylic tanks are though to last longer because of the seems. Thx for posting

I would use acrylic if it weren't for the price point. Acrylic can be a bit more work but the weight and durability are better than glass for sure. Something to consider is how often you'll be moving these things, moving acrylic is much easier than glass.

Main thing for me is whats gonna stand the test of time better.

Cant use my cans if i go acrylic right ?

Sure you can. You might have to drill a hole an extra hole or two but its no biggy. I've got a 2262 on my 5' tank in addition to my K1 sump.
