I live in Youngstown Ohio and I would be interested in the glass. How much would you want for one. Thanks

How about free? I didn't pay for it, so it wouldn't be right for me to charge for it. PM me your email addy and I'll send you pics when I get it. Keep in mind it's 9'-0" long!

I was doing some measuring last night and it's going to be a bit bigger than I intended, but I think it will be ok. Now my only concern is for the water exchanger. Since it's 9' long, I don't think the sketch above is going to work. I could do it, but the tank would have some "unusable" areas in the corners. Kind of a waste of space really. I think I'm falling back to the big box design (below). I have a water exchanger on my 55 that I made with a big Tupperware container and 2 pumps and some pvc. I need to have a reservoir because our tap water is chlorinated. I figure the box would be a little over 1000 gallons, and that would mean a 250 gallon reservoir. If I can come up with a 250 vertical solution, then I might be ok. I'm sort of limited on space (unless I relocate gas and electric utilities supplies  )

I'm going to see if it's possible for the glass guy to cut them (I doubt it). I don't think the glass doors is a good idea. First, it's 1/2", second, it's single pane tempered, so a failure would be catastrophic. Laminated is the way to go.

I'm an architectural illustrator. That sketch above was about a 5 minute model. The one below was about 20 minutes.

Thank you and I will PM you my email after this post. I was thinking about your reservoir. How much room do you have? You could build a 3'w x 3'l x 4'h box. This would hold approx. 269 gallons and have only a 3'x3' footprint. I would say 3/4 plywood framed up with pond liner. Quick to build and cheap. The new design is very nice. Would it be possible to get some dimensions on this monster?

Well I was doing some more math and a 30"x30"x56"Tall = 257 Gal, when I figured 24"x24" footprint it would need to be over 8' tall to achieve 250. Actually 2'x2'x8' was only 239 Gal. That doesnt seem practical at that height. Sounds like a great winter project. Keep us posted.:grinno:

Man what a great find on the glass. I noticed you said it was crated...so could it be shipped??? If so, I sure would love to get one. I of course would pay for the shipping. PM me if you think this would be possible.
Also please keep us posted as you progress on the tank.

i would gladly pay for shipping also if you have any left

Makes me wish I lived near Pa now.

Good luck by the way I cant wait to see this when its done.

Finally, got confirmation on the delivery. Monday at 7:00am. I couldn't swing getting ALL of the glass, so for those who wanted it, after I get my piece I'll mention that others are interested and see if you can pick it up from their shop. I really don't have the garage space for that much glass anyway!

I'm excited now. He was jerking me around on setting a time for delivery and I was beginning to think he was trying to blow me off.

I'll start a thread once I get all the materials. I changed the design from plywood to concrete block. From my math I think I'll save around $300-400 by doing CMU. It will be CMU with a skim coat of concrete sealed with drylok. The glass will be framed in wood and sealed with sanitread. Should be interesting... It's still 9'x4'x4'...
