As I've said before I had a used 180 I got from someone else that was made by them. Was a nice tank. I'm not much for the euro-bracing with a barebottom setup though. I've also heard horror storys. But I've heard horror storys about Tenecor as well.

euro-bracing what is that?

thanks!!

Euro bracing is when they use a strip of acrylic (or glass) along the perimeter of the top rim for support... either instead of or in addition to a center brace...

See the second picture on the top row for an example - http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=41

just an update, my brother purchased a 4x4x25" tank from them, and it turned out really nice. Silicone looked as good as an all glass tank. Customer service was great, they answered all q's and was helpfull, i would recommend!

99% of the complaints ive read about seem to be about folks getting butthurt over the bad customer service. havent seen much about tank failures, and to be fair, Tenecor has had it's fair share of problems.

if it will hold water, and you can handle dealing with a rude person, i say go for it!! :)

If my research proves correct, my 540 is from Glasscages. It took forever to get that thing apart. LOL

I see lots of complaint threads about Tenecor and almost none on glasscages, you just have one or two real vocal posters on here that have inflamed the situation with glasscages. My next big tank will come from glasscages, if I do not find a preowned tank that can be bought cheap.

Only thing bad I ever heard about GlassCages was CS and sloppy sealant. Never heard anything as for as
failures.

there have been a few failure stories out there, some with pics too

eg..

but EVERY tank manufacturer can have failures. all it takes is a defective peice of glass from their glass supplier (the aquarium people don't make the glass they buy it from a glass company) and boom! you have a tank failure blamed on the aquarium people.

thats the problem with tank failures/leaks.

you really don't know the exact cause.

bad seal craftsmanship?
bad glass?
not setup on stand properly?

you just don't know...all you can do is try and place blame, and clean up the mess..

If it were me, I would not do a "blind buy" if this is an expensive tank.

I would try and personally view some of their work before ordering.

to me, thats just doing your homework..

I would do this before buying from any tank manufacturer - try and personally look at a tank that they make before you order a monster from them.

I've heard mostly of poor customer service. Not to much about the quality of craftsmanship. I wouldn't thumb my nose at a new glass cages tank. I mean hell price but a 240 long with tops and stand against a 180 with stand from the LFS. It's cheaper even after shipping.
