Your arguments and questions stinks. Wake up and smell all that horse manure around you. :grinno:

What I have done is posted a legitimate stance on the subject of global warming. I neither denied it or agreed completely with it. I've in fact agreed that we have in some way caused this problem but not to the extent that people like you believe it. In about 2-3, you'll move onto another issue, I'm absolutely sure of it. You constantly harking on the horse issue is childish in it of itself. Just because I choose not to be completely brainwashed like some people, I'm immediately attacked for it. Question, Question, Question. Don't believe everything people tell you. Take it all with a grain of salt.

You are cool Ben. Stay cool.

I'll stop now.

carbon dioxide is way above 300ppm in the atmosphere currently which is higher than it has been for 650 thousand years, spanning 7 (or eight) ice ages. Prediction is that it's going to be almost double that in the next 25-50 years. It's not as if prediction is flawed because after monitoring it for the past 25-30 years predictions have been shown to be true. Probably due to the obvious nature of it. There is a distinct correlation between C02 and temperature. It really pisses me off how much humans have actually managed to mess everything up, and there are way too many case studies of what we've done negative to the environment. I got to be honest i try to live as green a lifestyle as possible.

On a passing... I agree with DW, water will be the next big thing. Aus are already screwed.

O yea and something i forgot to add.

If there is even the slightest chance of us destroying the planet and/or all/some of things on it, why isn't that enough for people to do something about it?

Really you got to decide what you can give up and what you can do. There are a million and one ways you could do something that may have a small or big impact. You got to think about whats going on e.g. the current problems with tuna stock. stop buying tuna. if it relates to your hobby then stop buying wc fish.
Then there are all the small things you can do. for example i know people who drive 10 miles to take their dog for a walk up onto the common i live on. They are driving uneconomically at about 20 miles to the gallon as their car hasn't warmed up just to walk the dog. Walk out the back door.
Where you can don't buy products that have been made hundreds miles away. Particularly food. Buy vegetables when they are in season, not because you can get them all year round even better, grow your own. Stop wasting things.
Do some conservation work. Walk everywhere. Recycle. Stop using air travel all the time.

Really it's a hard question to answer, because different things will apply to different people because there is a balance between what is feasable and not, and where you live etc. I'm not some greenpeace hippy, but i do try to think about the affects of the things i buy and do. It's up to you. Like i said, there are so many things you probably could do that may even benefit you directly. Other people might have better ideas or some actual facts telling you that over a year if you turn down your central heating by one degree you'll save 500 tonnes of carbon or whatever.

I had to do an experiment at uni, where I had to convince my housemates to live as green as possible. Just stupid stuff such as not leaving stuff on standby, not having the heating on ALL the time, turning of lights when your not in the room, switching off plug outlets when they aren't being used, cutting down on water wastage, switching to energy efficient bulbs (last 10 times as long, and saves a rediculous amount of energy and are actually brighter) etc. Basically just focusing on cutting down electric useage, water and gas. We did it for one quarter so when the bills came we'd know how much this would effect us economically. Well I can tell you for the next year and a third, we lived like that all the time. It saved us just over 200 GBP. It is worth it just for that, and that is just how you use household accessories like boiling water for a cup of coffee or whatever. If you did it for every aspect of your life you and everyone did it, you'd save a lot of money, and are living a greener lifestyle. Another important point was noone felt disadvantaged (giving things up they didn't want to) and in the knowledge it was a good way of living (and the extra cash in their pocket).

Other kind of things i think about are:
Britain could stop buying sodding strawberries all year round because they want to eat them when we can't have them (in winter) so stop importing them from portugal (good deed one: ecological footprint). The other is because of this "need" the Iberian Lynx (found in portugal and spain, although now is debated whether they are extinct from portugal) is now the most endangered big cat in the world(it was in 2003/4 anyway) and there are less than 200 in the wild. Basically because our demand has forced more agriculture cutting into their habitat. It is really things like this that piss me off, just because pete and gill down the road was some f*cking strawberries to put with their cream in december. It's not just this particular case, everything has an ecological impact, and it doesn't hurt to think about it now and again.

Sorry but sometimes i need to rant about this kind of stuff. Oh and guess what, i just don't eat strawberries lol.
