With TB, the other fish must be destroyed but chances are it was simply bacterial infection which is a very common ailment. Please describe the symptoms of the fish when they died and how you suspected TB.Tinkerbell_scarlet;2490212; said:Two of my fish died of TB which I did not know that fish could get that. the others are good and one looks prego I just wann know that I don't kill any more cause I really like them.
Actually no. 3-4 weeks is too much. When you clean, do you clean the whole tank by removing everything and then putting them back again? If so, I would advise against it. Just use your gravel vacuum which you can buy from your local fish shop (LFS from hereon) and algae scraper. Just do partial water changes twice a week by 40-50%. Use dechlorinator to bind the chlorine and chloramine which are toxic to the fish. Get API liquid test kit to test your ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH.Tinkerbell_scarlet;2490219; said:Thank you that helps a lot. How often do I clean tank I like to clean it every 3 to 4 weeks cause the water never looks dirty is that right?
For your filter, you can use only filter floss and sponges as your filter media. When cleaning them, use dechlorinated tapwater or tank water. Never use soapy or hot water which can kill your beneficial bacteria responsible for keeping ammonia, nitrites and nitrates at safe levels. By the way, there is no such thing as a 100% clean water. The water itself has the urea and feces of the fish.
