Question about the geneticly altered dayglow Zebra Danios: I heard they have all been irradiated to sterilize them. Is this true? My plain ol' zebras breed without much effort and a whole take of the Glowfish would be interesting, but they are so expensive! Also some of them have sort of truncated heads which really makes them ugly, could this be from the radiation?

Hope there's no hate mail because they are "unnatural", as long as they're confinded to a tank that should not be a problem.

They are not sterile, and will readily breed for you with other "glo" fish or regular zebra's...the company that genetically altered them though has a patent though that prevents you from selling the offspring ;)

I think theyre illegalin my state, No were to buy them, not that I wouldnt want to. Although, One thing I want to do is make a feeding video with them, turn out the lights in the tank and room, drop them in and watch them disapear, but I dont know since they are genetically altered if they would do harm to the fish that ate them.

i dont like other fish eating other fish but your idea would be interesting and dramatic them shooting around and then disapearing or half gone. poor danios they are my favourite community fish. as davo said there illegal here but how much are they for sale in the usa?

i have two pink dinaos the sticker above the tank i got them from at wals mart claimed they had jelly fish dna in them. they dont really glow they are just bright pink.

Sorry for the double post, but here

They are illegal in this country... that is how wrong they are.

If they make a GLO DOG, I want a green one.
