You're a bit too far south to see this species. They are mainly located in the north east and around the Great Lake region. They live in cool wooded areas and meadows that are in close proximity of cold water streams.

Bravo. Hopefully that will lead to that turtle finding a mate, and maybe standing a chance at a comeback.

Absolutely gorgeous turtle. I can see how it got the name 'wood turtle'. What a beautiful grain look on his/her shell.
