GM fish owners "treated like criminals"

Were the fish being sold gm medaka fish? If so i beleive they were injected with jellyfish genes so they glow. I think originally they injected the fish because a japanese scientist was trying to study how organ cells gather and devolop, so they made certain organs glow but after they team up with a company in singapore they started making these glowing fish to sell them to the general public. I think they're illegal because since these fish were sold for aquaria and not for human consumption if they are released into the wild and get eaten by another fish that is then eaten by a human or another animal, we don't know what harm could happen to the things that consume these glowing fish indirecly or directly.

at least this is not cruel and painful for the fish like dyeing

Except that they're trying to round up all the GM fish and euthanize them...I'm guessing that's a real downer for the fishies :(

Oh and the GM fish are illegal I'm guessing because theoretically they can pass the glo trait on to their offspring...for example if I created "glo largemouths" (or some other glo version of a native fish) and turned them loose I'd introduce the glo gene into the wild populations of largemouth...though I kind of doubt any glo fish would survive in the wild anyway, that glo color is like a big neon "EAT ME" sign to any predator out there.
