im thinking about turning my 90 into a brackish tank.
i would like to stock it with an archer fish. iv read that they prefer more of their own kind as tank mates. so i will probably go with a few of them. my question is, what else can i put in there with them? any kind of puffers or something? id like something that can live in the 90 gal for life.
also, are there any sorts of crabs that are completely aquatic? and since puffers eat that type of animal would a crab be bothered?
tank dimensions are standard 90 gallon.(4ft x 2ft x 1.5h)

I have a 100G brackish tank with 2 archers, 2 silver scats, 3 mono sebaes, 2 green spot puffers and 2 colombian sharks. This tank should pretty much do my fish for life, if not life atleast the next few years atleast. Green spot puffers and figure 8s are brackish water and they do very well with archers. I really wouldnt keep any crabs(fiddlers) with your fish as the fiddlers could one day decide that your fish look like a tasty treat. Generally 1/2cup of marine salt makes a SG of 1.020-1.024 so for brackish you dont need that much. I keep my tank at around 1.010 SG so Ive found that for my tank around about 1/3 cup per gallon works very well. Alot of facters determine how much salt that you will specifically have to use to achieve your desired salinity. Id personally start off with 1/4cup per gallon(a 25G mix box of marine salt should do the trick) and see where that takes you :) It is kind of a guessing game really.

Its like 15 bucks for a decent sized bag of marine salt. Its not that bad. :)

Craig you're awesome, ANY time brackish tanks are mentioned out comes the pics :) :)

Fat little puffers!

MCRHKiller's tank is grossly overstocked for life. There are enough fish that as adults, they will need ~500g!

Archers grow to a foot 50g ea min
Scats the size of a dinner plate 50g ea min
Monos also a foot 50g ea min
GSPs require at least 30g ea
Columbian sharks grow to 18" 65g ea min

Fiddler crabs wouldn't be a good idea either, as they require access to land. And you have to have them in small groups, or else they don't do so hot!!

Puffer say, "Crab, yum!" :D
