I thought having a few natives would satisfy me, it didnt..
So now I'm getting ready to go get some more and I was wondering how the majority of you get such small fish? I'm using itty bitty hooks and bits of worm, but that took a long time just to get three fish. Small mosquito fish would be fine right? Because I know most fish that are 4 inches can inhale them no problem.

What kind of worm do you use? I found the best bait for little fish is wax worms. They bite them really quick. I have been in a creek fishing with them and caught about 20 or in a half hour, apposed to pieces of night crawler where I would only catch a few.

Go to Jonahs Aquarium and they have something called the "Perfect Dipnet", thats the best way to get small fish IMHO. IF you want feeders I would get a 10g and breed your mosquito fish, or go to a bait store and get some rosy reds and quarantine and breed those (thats what Ive done).

Check your local fish laws, and buy a minnow seine. 2 people on a seine can get some really nice small fish! Just make sure that you only keep fish that don't have a size limit. It's great for minnows, killies, and sunfish that don't have size limits.

Since netting is out of the question, I picked up some #12 hooks, these things are tiny, I thought the #10s were small but wow. I have a few small mosquito fish, some plastic trout worms that I used last time with moderate success and a few small earthworms. I'll be going out tomorrow morning, wish me luck.

+100 this is how I get all of my natives...regardless of size.

let us know how it goes.

Im plannng to use tiny hooks, A butterfly net might work good in the shallows by a boat dock area. A net like fishing net but with really tiny holes

I only had about 1 hour to fish, but I ended up using mini (mean mini, these things are like 1.5 cm long) plastic jigs. Withing the first 15 minutes I had caught 6 fish, all way too big (15"-20") at the very end I caught a small 3"er I'm sure its a LMB, but its missing the black stripe. Its doing a really weird wiggly dance with the other LMB I have in my tank.
