Haha, they aren't that great if it helps at all. They look awesome but they are meaner than any other sunfish. I kept one for about 6 months and it killed my crappie and almost my Redfin pickerel. So I thought if it wants to be a big mean fish it will be with other big mean fish. I threw it in my 600 gallon pond with my 19 inch bass and it was eaten instantly. I didn't really even miss it.

i hear ya my big male decided to dig a pit and aggressively kill every other fish in the tank. 5" bullhead, 2 redbreasts, and a dollar sunfish.

So lucky that you live near a creek. The river I live near only has a few tiny suckers and minnows. lol
