GOING ON VACATION

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Personally, i think 10 days is too long-they will be nipping at each other, and if a weak one gets a part of its fin nipped off, the frenzy will be on. I would try to feed them as much as possible right before you leave, then thrown in a dozen small feeders, and 50 guppies. The best thing to do is have someone come in once and give them feeders or a bunch of pellets. You never know with those auto feeders, don't buy it right before your trip, you should have the auto feeder going for a few weeks while you are at home.

Throwing in 100 feeders at one time without you being there to do a water change in the next few days will probably be the worst thing to do. Ammonia spike for one could happen, just to name a few. I guess it depends how well your tank is filtered to carry the heavy bioload.

The fish will survive without eating for the 10 days, it will just be a hit or miss that they may just feed on one another?

If your P's eat pellets get yourself an auto-feeder and just set the day and time.

Exactly the reason why i got my Rhom to eat pellets, btw depending on your fish it will take a while to train them to eat pellets even tho my fish took to them after a week. good luck

What tank size you got and how big is the piranha. are you afraid that the hunger from your piranha or worry about the piranha eating your exodon.
