ok i agree w/ the gar being fine for a week, but i also have a silver arow that is a baby. would he need fed?

how big is the silver? one of those that recently lost the yolk sac, or is it several inches long (5-6")? if it recently lost the yolk sac, yes, i would suggest having it fed maybe 2x during the week you are gone...preferably more, but you don't want the fish to be overfed and killed.

this is a unique situation, but if you have fishes that absolutely MUST be fed, divide up the quantity they must be fed daily into zip-loc bags and put them somewhere so your friend can find them. if anything, measure out less food than you would normally feed, and instruct your friend NOT to feed if there is any remaining food, or to net out any remaining food.

most large predatory fishes definitely don't need to eat while you're on vacation for a week, but a baby arow can easily starve to death over this time if it is just one of tnose 2.5" specimens...--

the aro is about 3". lost its yolk sac several weeks ago. i showed him what to feed it and he is somewhat intelligent. if he has any questions i can be easily contacted.

If you have an LFS that you can trust, maybe you can speak to them and then let your buddy contact them if there's a problem..

I recently left my monster tank alone for a week with no problems and I also left 2 baby senegals for a month in my tank at work. Got back today and they're fine..

well i am away now so all i can do is hope for the best. im pretty sure all will be ok. all he is doing is light feeding and observing the temps and that all the filters are running ok. i also went over a few scenerios w/ him. he also has my no. where i can be reached. i was very nervous since the last time i went away all hell broke loose and several tankmates ate each other. hence the lite feeding!

he is just going to be checking on them and doing some light feeding. .

Ya we've heard this before form people here who have thought there hobbiest friends were "LIGHT FEEDING" :(

I really would rather kill my own fish:( on accident... But you decide..

Eh it's probably alright ... I would ask these kind of IMPORTANt questions before i left if i were goin to ask in the future though.. :)

Should be fine :)
