Get a pair of histrix for yourself. It won't take long for you to change your mind.
I think it would be a good move to bring in some scobina. They are one of the least common rays in the US and they stay very small. Perfect size for the average hobbyist.

i had a large hystix a few years back and to tell the truth i didnt like it that much it was not that active
scobina are a nice looking ray that can be kept in a 6x2x2ft tank for some time
i would say the going rate for captive bred scobina is about 300 euro
not sure about wild caught
