The ray is the one of the babies I kept from my last batch. I no longer bred them she always seemed to be feeding ok so I was never worried , the video I posted of her acting strange was the only time I started to pay her more attention .What I put it down to is stress from the bigger fish that swim on top ie 24inch arrow which add a go at her Tuesday morning so I dunno how many times the Arrow as been tormentin the little girl ..... As for for how she is still alive living in the sump I tried bloodworm musle ,prawn with no joy so gunna leave her to adjust with no lights today and try earthworms tommorow ...

1 dead ray in 3 years... you are way ahead of the curve in luck and skill.

Really?

I imagine that fresh imports have a high mortality rate and if you are breeding then some pups will die, that's just nature but I would not expect many rays to die in 3 years of ownership unless in the hands of a beginner fish keeper.

I have personaly imported 11 rays, direct from the bag and home, never bin in any shop or anywere else, out of these 11 i have 9 left, 2 died after 2 months of never eating(all WC rays) My honest opinion is that ive done a pretty good job. But i gues many rays fall into unknown(wont say beginners)hands and slip away..Me myselfe have bin into the hobby for 17 years, but never really had any problems with anything, had "prick" disease 1 time. But still i had to do an effort before i got into raykeeping, its a whole new area for most people, even tho they have had aquariums for a decade.

How is this ray doing?

Ray is in realy bad shape curly her back end up flicking about tank her pelvic bones are now showing bad . I thought she was dead yesterday as she was on her back again , soon as I went to get her out she started moving again. I was just going to put her put of her missery last night but just couldn't do it

Importing rays compared to buying from a breeder or an lfs is a very different proposition.

I am very sad that many rays have to die being imported to keep our hobby supplied. I really wish we could captive breed enough to stop the imports....too may die for 1 to survive.

If the import stopped, there would be a whole lot of people without a job. If we think out of the "perfect world box", everything has its reasons, even if we like it or not :\ If we had captive breed, keeping wc at a minimum i gues there would be people without jobs, starving, and who would want that? I gues its reality of life!

Importing compared to breeder and lfs = 10 times difference in survival status imo, and thats why i belive ive done a pretty decent job, TIL NOW! Who knows what will happen tomorrow. Me myselfe think im reading myselfe to death on here :p

i think this little ray is one that he bred himself tbh

wonder how shes doing ? im guessing the worst though from the lack of updates.
