I want to get a new camra, but i dont know anything about them. looking only to spend about 300 bucks. i just want a good camra for the money. something that i can take great pics of my fish.

all suggestions welcome!

Just picked up a Canon PowerShot SD 630 for 300 bucks at Best Buy. It's a great little camera with tons of editing options and takes pretty good pics. It's a 6 MP cam with 3x optical and 4x digital zoom. It has a really nice big LCD display. You may want to check that one out.

Check out www.dcresource.com. They have a good "Which camera should I buy" forum, along with awesome reviews.

I personally prefer the sony DSC-H2. Has a carl Zeiss lens, 12 x optical, 3x digital. Can have filters, and lenses, but not like a digital SLR. This is a digital ZLR. With the filters you can get some very close pictures. Auto and manual controls for: focus, zoom, white balance, shutter speed, and ISO settings.

I think you would have a hard time finding a bad Canon. IMO. But, I'm not a professional photographer or anything.

Make it a point to get a camera with a picture stabilizing feature. Mine has 10MP and zooms in like there is no tomorrow. But that is all useless when I am in a situation when there is too much light for the flash. The flash is the only thing that freezes my pictures. Zoomed in, my pictures are always fuzzy. If I try to take a picture using only my aquarium lights or the room lighting, more than half of my pictures are blurry.

That's what I love about my SD630, it takes great shots with just the aquarium lights for lighting. Take a look...

If you want a serious camera the Nikon D50 i heard is a pretty good entry level SLR camera. Not too expensive. I recently found refurbished ones for half the price but when i woke up the next day to order the site had taken them off their site. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH
