Sorry for your loss. It looks like a young one. I don't think his death is due to the old age. A well-care captive large central American cichlid can live up to at least 10 years. I had a fenestrata that she was 14 years before it was killed by my barred midas. Anyway, I hope you can find a replacement for him.

That was a pic of him in at his finest. What's the youngest 15" Jag you've seen?
 
wow, that really sucks, I idol your jag, it was the most amazing fish I had ever seen, I'm so sad to see it have to go,:( you have to get it mounted!!!
 
Btw I just texted my friend who isn't even on this forum to tell him the sad news, that is how famous this fish was.
