Gold Barred midas 2022

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know the location of the father but not the mother. the mother was also obtained from Rapps but i cannot recall the province and i know it was not the same as the father. i guess i'm just airing on the side of caution but its 100% midas.

Ok, I see. As far as I can recall Jeff only collected A cittrinellus from Lake Managua, and Lake Nicaragua, and the orange midas, referred to by the vast majority of researchers over the years as the gold morph, is simply a less common color morph of barred (normal morph) midas. I have always strongly encouraged breeders of wild fish to stick to specific geographical variants when breeding, so I understand what you are saying - but I certainly wouldn't refer to them as mutts. :)

I’m not distributing them either way- just my own line.

once they start peeling I’ll make a thread showing the stages- if I remember to

He looks great and pure Midas..... I do respect And agree with your viewpoint regarding spawning Midas from different locales.....The results of the research from the lakes of Nicaragua that's been going on in the past few years is not only revealing genetic difference which account for the discovery of the new species but also that the same species has genetic differences with each other from lake to lake...... I'm growing out some F2 lake Nicaragua Midas and if I get a female and ever decide to see if she'll spawn with my lake Managua I guess I know in advance what the fry may look like?

Beast of a midas. How old is he now? Reminds me of my wild barred Midas from Rapps I had back in 2017.
Thanks and Sorry for the late reply ,2017 is the coincidental year that I got mine October 31st of that year he arrived to me also from Jeff Rapps TUIC..so it's going on 5 years that I had him from the size of 4 inches. to over 13 inches which though he has been that size for a while here is a recent pic....
