I know the location of the father but not the mother. the mother was also obtained from Rapps but i cannot recall the province and i know it was not the same as the father. i guess i'm just airing on the side of caution but its 100% midas.
Ok, I see. As far as I can recall Jeff only collected A cittrinellus from Lake Managua, and Lake Nicaragua, and the orange midas, referred to by the vast majority of researchers over the years as the gold morph, is simply a less common color morph of barred (normal morph) midas. I have always strongly encouraged breeders of wild fish to stick to specific geographical variants when breeding, so I understand what you are saying - but I certainly wouldn't refer to them as mutts.
