this is what the Aqualog author is calling the 'Gold Dust', one of the two specimens shown in the Aqualog book. i don't know if this is the fish actual color. the reflection from the reddish brown bottom might have caused it to look more purplish than it actually is. who knows. although the description does mention a light violet color.

as for pics of buettikoferi, there are various pics on mfk, and ewurm posted some pics too of the new one he got.

Ah i see how the two differ. That one looks a light violet on top with a light sprinkling of "gold dust"

that is a beautiful looking bichir, thats all i know.
 
I'll see if mine has that. If not, I will get out some paste and gold sprinkles.
