USD 1500 maybe be alot of money but in comparison with the prices in UK its cheap! You be looking at £1500-2000 here in UK for a xback! Thats around on average $2700 USD!!!
I also think it's a good fish; it's my bro's hard work as he does 20% water change for the fish and feeds it a wide variety of food. And shrimp really is a good stuff for color enhancement.

@Andrewsin: Very expensive, esp. when £ stays high in exchange rate, while the fish price in HK remains more or less the same over the years (except for some like Thai dat and plecos...)
