gold leapard sailfin?

will either of these plecos eat alagea and do they need driftwood to rasp away at leapard sailfins are one of my favorite plecos and im definately getting one but if they dont eat much alagea wat other pleco will be able to be with him?

they will eat some algae when smaller but not after they get to be around 4" or 5", at least not if they are adequately supplemented with other foods. the algae alone won't cut it for these fish and they need real veggies like zucchini, and will eventually need a lot of protein from sinking pellets. they are not a pleco that will keep your tank clean and maintenance free like a BN will.

They like meat sometimes. I would feed mine shrimp pellets. Driftwood is always nice for any pleco and I would recommend it but sailfins don't have to have it.
