Hello I'm planning on setting up a 210 gallon aquarium (96"L x 24W x 21T) and I'm looking into getting a gold ntt datnoid and looking for care information and compatibility with cichlids. I currently have a 60 gallon set up that has a 4" or 5" red spotted sev and 7" to 9" ornate bichir and I have a 20 gallon with a 3" to 4" harlequin lancer catfish and plan to have one or two more SA cichlids. I've read some conflicting info on datnoid compatibility with cichlids some places say they do well with cichlids some say that cichlids are too boisterous or aggressive and will keep the datnoid stressed and hiding

me too. right now I have a convict in a 150g by himself because he cant get along with anyone. if it wasn't for the wife he'd be gone.
We have a 5 yr old heterospilus who has sentimental value and a convict that was never supposed to stay and still might get the boot. Het will be the last long term cichlid for me

all depends on which cichlid. there's thousands of different types. is your sevrum calm?
The severum is fairly calm she only shows aggression towards the bichir when it goes into her cave she will try to just nudge the bichir a little until it leaves or she gives up. She's a calm feeder too probably the calmest fish I've kept when it comes to feeding. The other cichlid I want to keep is an ebjd everything I've read says they are generally mild tempered.

Idk man ive grown so tired of the cichlid games.
Ya cichlids are kinda hit or miss because of their aggressive attitudes. My severum is fairly calm I've had kissing gourami that were more aggressive than her, she only picks on the bichir when it goes into her cave and sometimes she's fine with it.

I've been wondering how long can a ntt datnoid stay in my 210 gallon tank if I got one? I've read that they grow really slow and it can take a year or longer to reach 12" and all the ones I've seen that were 14" or bigger were 3 years old or older.

Of course depends on diet, general care plus tank mates/stocking level, but yeah since they are really slower growers I'm thinking you could keep one in a 210 for 2, maybe 3 years -- I'm also wondering if 12" in a year or so is kinda optimistic but krichardson or perhaps another could confirm better this is true or not.

Regarding point of putting a Dat with Cichlids I would concur with others who say this is chancy and your Dat might likely be uncomfortable or unstable due to aggression and boisterous nature of most Cichlids.

Good luck with your planned set-up and keep us updated.
