so there is a pet supplies by me and they carry all kinds of fish, not ur norm, tsn $6 pbass $8 the point is they have no idea what they are doing, so my gf was gunna buy me a goldnugget for 24.99 and they rang it up for only 4.99 how is that for a deal?!!!:headbang2 will post pics later,,,,haha stupid ppl, any tips on keeping them??

When they are little they seem to drop like flies (2" and below). There are 3 gold nuggets variants shown here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22382&highlight=L177
I would recommend a lot of oxygen flow in the tank, and make sure water conditions are as perfect as normal. I'd keep the pH around 6.5-7, slightly acidic beinig better in my experience. Make sure it has a few hides, i found this a must for this species (like many other plecos). Also i have found bogwood is very beneficial, and i know some people thing it is a necessitiy for this species, which I'd probably agree. They are pretty sensitive to temp so make sure its always at a constant and careful during water changes. Try feeding some veggies, I've had some that takes them, some that are not interested. Main bulk of their diet should consist of different worms, mysis, prawn, beefheart, shellfish etc, basically protein food. They are a grazer and sift through trying to find insect larvae, eggs, small crustaceans etc. I've never had a GN to refuse bloodworms ;) They are a pretty territorial fish especially when they get older.

$4.99 is a steal, but i'd be dubious if it is under 2-3", and check to see if it has any visible problems (ragged fins, off colours etc), but most importantly don't touch it if its got a sunken stomach (most common problem in these plecs). The hardest to catch is usually the healthiest ;) good luck with it.

big air you willing to ship one my way if i pay the price of the pleco and the shipping...c'mon help a fellow monster keeper out.

it looks pretty healthy and its about 3" thanks alot

Then go for it! Fatten it up what you can on some bloodworms, might eat straight away. Leave the lights out for a bit.

The food I have had the best success with quick start eating is African Cichlid Attack by HBH. I got my Adonis eating the day I got him on this. Also, several other plecos, but recently I got my gold clown knife to eat this before frozen bloodworms.

all very useful information...but is any one willing to help me out with my gold nugget situation...i really really want one...if you dont then i might develop a st st ss s st stutter pa pa pa please dont do that to me...

Have you looked at the Sellers forum? That would be your best bet as they deal with shipping fish daily, and will have the best shipping means. Try there first, if no one can help you out there, then try here.
