thats impossible.. i've never heard of petco selling any pleco other than ur regular common plecos..

Mind giving us some pictures of it??? Love to see the little guy.. and ya. . gold nuggets are hard to keep.. very demanding.. so do becareful with them.

Plecos are hard to come by in my area, other than commons. But I have to say I have 5 BN, 3 clowns, and 2 rubberlipped plecos from my local PetCo.

imo the only mistake you made, was not going home and researching the fish first. Or picked up one of the many books i'm sure they had in the store and looking at it's care/ect. I've gotten some nice fish from petco/petsmart in the past. But I knew before i bought, what exactly i was buying. even a good petco/petsmart will hold a fish for you for at least that day so you can go home and make sure you can properly care for it. a 42$ fish is a big livestock sale for them. If they aren't accomitable, I'de go elsewhere, period.

Im not sure if I know where you are going with this. My pleco is very healthy. I do prperly care for it. Not to mention the closest petshop with any kind of variety is an hour and a half from me. I was just wondering how fast they grow. Im not one to plop him in the tank and hope for the best. I do research my fish its just i reseached this one after I bought him. It was awhile ago when I used to just buy fish for fun. But I am glad I bought him

not to take over this thread or anything but I run the aquatics dept. at a petco and you'd be surprised at what we have available to order. Try asking for particular species and they should order for you, half my weekly orders are for customers.

They are really hard to keep. I got one from petco and it was doing fine for about 6 months and all of a sudden it died. It was doing fine the night before, I saw it eat and swim around, when I turned the tank lights on in the morning it was dead.
