Gold Saum fight or breeding??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any cichlid could go with them but they will beat it up. Personally community fish aren't good dithers cause they don't pose a threat so will be ignored.

Thank you for the info..i was told Giant Danios cause the GT's/ Gold Saums are gonna get big...but your right..they dont pay any attention to the Danios!

What you think about Convicts...my lfs has several convict fry about .75 to 1 inch right now..they got rid of the parents and now only have the fry..can i get them and grow them out..what size should they be before I put them into the GT tank??

I would go with a convict close to their size that way they see a threat and tag team the convict. I would also do with a single convict since they breed like rabbits. You could always use a mirror and put it up against the glass . Then once they start attacking their reflection put the convict in. Let it get a little beat up then do a cold water changes to provoke spawning

Because of the fast response to my questions about them fighting or breeding..I kept them together as was recommended and this is what happened!!!

Noticed her hovering over a rock in right corner of tank after feeding..she usually fed all over the tank wherever the NLS pellets fell she was gobbling them up..but not this time..so I went over and took a look..the pic is what I saw!!

I observed this on Dec 20th

Morning feeding and I only noticed three of the hundreds of eggs turned white...after the tanks mid day lighting siesta..(programmed lighting for my plants)..I noticed she was moving them from the rock to a hole she dug in the ground behind the rock..in this hole was itsy bitsy tiny wigglers..she then ended up moving all the wigglers to this hole behind the rock..youll see this at the 2 o'clock position beside/ behind the rock..
