That sounds like a good plan if that happens. I wanna see pics of this guy! Wait, are these those huge mollies that get to be 5" long? I think my lfs has a few!

I tried again to get pictures, and it seems impossible between the glare, the small - ness of the fish, and there fast movements. Any suggestions?

Hehe. They do act a little like gambusia (swim in surface water) but you found one our native killifish. Fundulus chrysotus Golden Topminnow are really cool and often abundant where found (at least in my experience). You must have been pretty close to Louisiana since they don't go very far into Texas.

I gotta ask....What is a sneaker forum? Do you mean sneakers like shoes? If so, are participants of the forum in the industry?

As far as my fireproof pants comment....you hit the nail right on the head. Sometimes people want/take rare fish and make all kinds of claims like "it came from a private pond on my friends property" and in some cases they are indeed telling the truth. If you live in Texas, you sure know about all the rare gambusia and probably know about their status. It's in very poor taste/unethical (if not illegal) to take fish home without ID regardless of the situation. I want to believe the poster has the best of intentions here but I'm awfully suspicious that folks just gotta have that rare fish.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that I'm one of the grumpy guys around here :irked:

Sorry if I clobbered you too hard badisbadis101.

A sneaker forum is where all the people who like sneakers go and post pictures of their rare shoes (or not so rare shoes) and chat it up. There's also discussions on topics like release dates etc etc. It's a whole culture just like fish keeping is. Most of them are kids who just got into the scene but a few of us (;)) have ties with people that work in the industry and get samples or rare shoes for free or discounted prices. I once had a kid go :WHOA: when I was walking around in some never released nike samples that were thrasssshed.

I am actually in the Houston Area, which is a few hundred miles from louisiana. Thanks for the ID though:D

Definitely a golden topminnow. Only gonna get 3" long.

Nice killifish!

Just so you know, even if it is on your private property, it is illegal to take/posess any endangered, or protected species in most states. The pond probably also has underground connections to other bodies of water.

The only fishing law that doesn't apply to private ponds is probably size and bad limits of game species and methods of catching fish.
