Gold Suam Colors

What size to Gold Suams get their colors? Because mine looks kind of dull right now and I really want a nice green gold suam...

It could be a female. They're usually kind of dull in comparison to the males.

are you sure it is a GOLD saum. Different species get more colorful.

it has a little bit of orange on its fins, and its about 3.5".

I've read that some aquarist have success with feeding krill as a color enhancer.

I'm trying it right now, but haven't been feeding it long enough to notice any changes.

crustations help with coloration, shrimp or crayfish, should help

I have been feeding my 4 1/2" Gold Saum Krill for a little over a month. he's/she's looking GREAT. I am not sure how to tell a Male GT from female as I have read so many differnt opinions on here. Sure would be nice to have a definite way to tell.

I also read in this forum that Krill will help bring out reds and other colors too.

Check your lighting.

mine got his nice blue green color at about 3 inches or so.

Orange reds and yellows are controlled by diet, while greens blues and violets are based on lighting.

I do have some pretty crappy lighting.
