Your lighting probably has a lot to do with it. I've only had mine for about two weeks, but this is my 3" male:
As you can see, he's got lots of colour in him already. He and his girlfriend are my first GT's, so I don't know if that's the norm for little guys, I just know he looked better than any GT at that size I've ever laid my eyes on, so I had to buy them
