Gold Trimac???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The fish in question is a hybrid. I've not seen the true morph of a gold trimaculatus in many years. Some believe that morph (not a flowerhorn) is itself a hybrid, but I don't think enough of that morph have been around in circulation to really get a decent idea one way or the other.

Is it worth $100? Not yet. It won't be until someone buys it :)

If it is a true trimac it is worth $100 bucks. The True trimacs are very hard to come by now a days. The Trimac is the base for Flowerhorns. The chances of a LFS actually having a true Trimac are almost impossible. A true trimac does not have the pointed fins at the end. They are rounded. If they are pointed they are are a cross of some sort. Do your research before buying this one.

this is a pic of the male (true) trimac that I got from a very good friend in the ACA who got it in a batch of juvies from Jeff Rapps. this one was the pick of the litter which my friend grew up apart from the others and he eventually sold it to me. Point is, though all the fish in that batch may not have developed pointed fins this guy sure did. :)

everything else you said I completely agree with and I doubt that any lfs currently has a real trimac in stock nowadays...which is sad.

:)

True Trimac's are very hard to come by nowa days, and i've found that the only way you can be sure you have a "true" trimac is if you was to buy one from a respectable breeder who does know his stuff !

they have been bred so much mow they have cross bred so much now that most people wouldn't even know what a trimac looked like and they would seel one off as a flowerhorn!

my trimacs have pointed fins, and they are not a cross with anything.
