I never thought to mention that mine is in a brackish tank and has been in for about a year. Mine has no problems eating guppies and ghost shrimp. I hope I will not have long term problems in the future because I also have a Gymnothorax tile, toad fish, and a red scat. So far all are getting along. The moray and pinky are sharing the root ornament peacefully. To further add from guppy's reply mine does have a round fin at the end of his tail.

Just curious why you have yours in brackish? Did somebody suggest it ? Mine are in full fresh and from what I understand they are not brackish fish... Mine are wolfing down goldfish. They do eat a lot, wonder where they put it! Has yours grown fast?
When I bought mine it was in brackish water and sold as an albino moray. There are species of moray that do not have the characteristics of the commonly known and tend to look like snakes in body shape. He has not grown much longer than when I got him about a year ago but he has more girth now than before. I looked at the site guppy added and it mentioned the other species as being in brackish mostly. I will add a couple of pics I found of the odd species of morays that are round insted of what is commonly known.
Albinomoray - are those pictures your fish? If so, they are not monopterus albus, but rather, one of the real brackish water moray eels, and I've never heard of a white/albino variety before... very interesting.

Danny, darthbravo and I both have gold tulip eels - they are distinctive. Yours is one of the brackish water moray eels, and if yours is an albino, then you have a very unique fish as well.
Only the picture in my avatar is my fish. I have pics but not good resolution in the picture gallery. My fish was purchased in brackish water and has been in for a year now. I was thinking of taking him to an LFS and see for sure if they can ID him. Mine does look a lot like darth bravo's pic. The other pics from my last posting were placed to show some morays do not have the characteristics similar to the infamous green moray. I am trying to determine if I will need to find this guy a new home because from what I understand I can get away for a few years but eventually the swamp eel will become a monster.

I may wind up trading him for more suitable fish for my setup if I find out for sure he is a swamp eel as I understand they need fresh water where my Gymnothorax tile, toadfish, and red scat need brackish. This will give him a better chance at a longer life.

If it looks like his, and the other photos, then that's what you have.
If it looks like the one you posted, then it's a moray.
From what you just told us about yours' behavior, it sounds like we all have the same fish - golden tulip eel, and they are freshwater eels, and they do get big, although I'm not sure how big.. yet...
So, yeah - you do have a golden tulip eel, too.
If you decide that this fish isn't quite right for you, I would like dibs on the fish. I'd love to have one more!
