anyone else have a golden gecko? Ive had one for 9 years and hes so inactive. He stays up in one corner of the cage all day long. I might see him out in the open maybe once every 2-3 weeks. Is there something wrong with him? the cage is definitely big enough, its about 60" long x 12" wide x 14" tall...

Try my Crocodile Skink... I never see her. Period.

The only time I saw her was when I was changing her water, and she was in the water bowl.

golden geckos are nocturnal i believe. they wont be active til the lights go out

Yup. I use to have a breeding pair of these guys. You rarely see them unless you turn off the lights or have a black light or red bulb on your tank.

That's cool that you've had him for 9 years Fishyfan. I don't have mine anymore but my one friend still has my old male and I got him in '99 as an adult so he is at least 9 years old. Here's and old photo of him.

i have had a pair in the past, i think if it is 9 years old you are doing something right and i, personally, wouldnt change anything. they are nocturnal as stated, but if you introduce another, you may also be introducing internal parasites, also the established goldy might get a lil defensive with another in its territory, im no herpotologist but thats just my opinion. :)

Like tokays they don't move much unless there is something to chase of mate with. Come to think of it, they are a lot like many people.

His cage is a bit bare. You think he'd be more active with more branches for him to climb in? I collected some manzanita branches at arrowhead today so he'll have some more branches to climb around in soon...
