Golden Ghost Knifefish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I saw a couple of months ago white ghost knives. When I asked about them they said they were a hybrid of a BGK they had the shape of a BGK but all white not the gold colour of the ones pictured above. I was tempted to get one but it would have had to live in the QT tank as I didn't have space for it. I do now maybe I will go and see if they have them in.

provide pics bro.

pretty cool. Bet the reason they're not seen very much is because they are eaten pretty quickly in the wild. Someone must have got lucky.

very kool fish. never seen them. pics......

They definiately have the 'shape' of the Black Ghost - most even have the darker rings with white patches on their tails.

Some had 'spots' along their side - not evenly spaced - just a couple here or there. They are a hybred of some sort. It is BGK and something else... but that is the part that worries me. If it is a Brown - not a big deal but there are others that I would not want to try to 'house'.

I am trying to find a female BGK so that I can try to 'introduce' her to my male. I thought about getting a few of these Goldens to raise together as it would be easier than trying to introduce them later but if I don't want to start with too 'shallow a gene pool' :)

Before people get upset - I know how powerful they are and how much room they need.. totally understood. I will have a 210 setup - lots of caves and hiding places - with a strong divider ...... and lots of patience....

The hardest part is finding a female.

hmmm i might actually try doing this hybred and see what i come up with

It seems that BGK will breed.... perhaps they are just 'fussy' :)
