I understand how the backgrounds do precipitate changes in colorations but there are some variants of jardini that are more golden than others...even some crossback golden jardinis that hail a different color than regular old jardinis.
Some Jars have lighter base than others or darker base than others. ;)

No such thing as a crossback jardini, it's a marketing ploy to get more money for fish in an attempt to make it sound like it's Asian aro quality

Well I've seen one in person that I'd call a crossback where the sheen on the scales covered the entire top of the aro...unlike many other jars I've seen and/or kept. Call it what you want, but there are qualities in some jars that are much more physically appealing than others. This is not hearsay...Its personal experience;) So maybe I'm one of those individuals who employ this schematic marketing language. I definitely would not sell my "high shine" who has some "crossback" characteristics for the same price as a regular old silver aro price. There are variations in quality in jardinis and if you do not agree, that's fine. I will agree to disagree with both of you:grinno:

Actually I think I have seen a picture of a platinum Jardini with crossback. :naughty: Body was white, back was gold.:eek:

a jar is a jar a crossback is a crossback

by giving a jar the crossback name means nothing except a way to kick up the price

you will get different variations in ALL fish no need to give them a flash name to kick up the price

I think everyone has a point.

How can one tell if a Jardini will be a crossback when it reaches adult?
How can someone tell if the jardini will maintain the gold color through aduthood?

I have seen people market Jardini with these fancy title and asked for more money but there really is no gaurantee that the fish will maintain these qaulities as they reach adulthood unlike Asian aro. With asain you have a much higher chances for the fish to turn out as marketed by the farm.

I saw those fish on monday. The guy said did you see the " Platinum Jardini " I'm sure they are not platinum just a light colored jar. Some are light some are dark, they did seem to have a different shape to them, seemed longer and more pointed, I don't think they were Lei's either, just alight colored jar in my opinion.
