Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly makes pimas get their tail coloration so quickly? I've been feeding mine with almost 6 different types of food and just had recently developed a single orange spot on it's tail and mine's bigger that the ones on the video!

Genetics?.....it has been said that the arapaima's natural diet plays a big part in the tail coloration but like with a lot of things it varies with the individual fish.
