  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
look on craigslist for a 40 or 50 gallon tank and put a decent filter on it. then youl only need to do water changes once or so a week and still keep her

Yes, I hope so - I'm quite attached to her. Caring for her as she grows is more work than I realized. Just planning ahead.
That's why I haven't gotten rid of ours its my sons pet. He survived when it was smaller from being eaten many times. We had 3 but 2 of his buddy's got munched...

do u have a filter on your tank , and if u do what size filter and brand, and do u dechlorinate your water

I have a Penguin 150 (good but not great) and I use 2 filters. I tend to change one and bring the second one forward when I do. I know this isn't recommended but they get to smelling really bad after a week or two - rinsing them in water from the tank doesn't help. I use Prime to dechlorinate the water.

then throw a HOB filter on the tank so you can minimize your water changes

I have a Marineland 150 with physical, chemical and biological filtration. It should move enough water. I don't understand the nitrogen cycle the tank goes thru - I've read about it several times, but I'm still missing something. I know water quality is the key but don't understand why I need to do it so often.

That must have been a bad day for your son! My goldie has outlived a smaller goldfish companion and a snail. Compatibility is an issue. Much of what I know I've learned from my mistakes.
