Hey guys,

As some of you know Im buying this 75G tank of someone hopefully this week depending on how my dads feeling. We have one of those homedepot or lowes ponds a friend gave us that has water in it. I dont know what to do with the fish he has in there he has 2 big goldfish probably like 6 inches long and a couple other fish almost look like bass? would they be okay to put in the pond? there isnt a heater or anything it just has water in it. would they be okay during the winter because we just got more snow...
:( I think theyd be fine but my parents are like you cant put them out there theyll die and blah blah. Idk if they're right so I figured Id ask some experts. Help me out here I need to know a.s.a.p. Thank you:)

The preformed ponds are not deep enough to winter over fish without a heater. It will freeze solid. You need to be about 4 feet deep to winter over fish.....and then the goldfish would be fine so long as you keep a window open in the ice for gas exchange. I cannot speak for you bass-like fish. No clue what they are.

okay. would petsmart take them? lol otherwise i dont no what to do with them

comon MFK I need some help here I cant keep them in the tank because my parents arent letting me set it up yet.

i would take the risk and do it. the real question is, if koi can do it why can't goldfish? i don't know the internal physiological differences between koi and goldfish but im willing to bet they are similar. So i'd take the risk and toss them in the pond.
It's april so i really don't think your pond will completely free over. well....we hope not. it snowed in boston tonight.

heres the pix I was just taking pix of the tank so I no I got the fish in with it so sorry if you cant really see them. The bass looking fish is silver/ grey and had different colors shimmering on its sides its probably like 4 inches. These are the only pics I took that you can see the fish in. I think theyd be fine because they dont have a heater in the tank with them that I saw so I dont think they need warm water. the unidentifed fish is the one by the statue thing behind the white goldfish.

Giant Danio, Devario aequipinnatus for sure. Needs temps in the high 70's and low 80's...definetly not a fish to put into an outdoor pond in the winter. The Goldies will do fine as long as its not frozen solid and there's sufficient gas exchange (big hole in the ice).
