Hello, i recently healed a tank of 3 goldfish and one eel (dont know what it is) of velvet disease and fin rot but there in a cold water aquarium, the tank is way too small for them and i want to put the in my outside pond. But at the moment they are to small, so i was wondering weather or not i could put them in an 80L Pond and let them grow for a while before eventually putting them in the main pond. Would this work or am i just being stupid?

? Anyone?

Does anyone have an opinion on this? no?

That should be fine, for better results/replies you should post this in the pond section.

Agreed for the pond section posting, but I still don't know the question...You wanna know if setting up a smaller pond for smaller fish is a good idea?! Of coarse! Putting them in a larger space is good as well, unless they would get eaten...That's bad...Is this what your asking?

Yes this is kind of what im asking but i want to put them outside and im not sure if it would work (im worried they might get eaten or die because of how cold it is) as they are inside so there will be a bit of a temperature change.

How cold is it outside? And are you about to go into winter as well? All things to consider....generally, adding fish to an outdoor pond this late in the year (northern hemisphere) is not a good idea. The fish need time to build up fat and the shock of the cooler water may be too much for them to handle and possible induce disease. It might be a better idea to keep them indoors until the spring. I have also seen people add fish this late in the year and be perfectly fine. What are your weather conditions as of late?

Everytime I buy feeders and there is a nice one, like a traditional koi, white with an orange spot on the head, I throw it in the pond. I must have 30 of all sizes now. They are extremely durable and hardy.

its getting towards autumn here in England and it's currently 61F and 16 degrees Celsius so will it be ok? the main concern it that they might still have a very slight infection of velvet disease still (though I doubt it) so i am worried that it might spread and start again in the pond.

Go buy yourself a plastic tote, fill it with water and put the fish in question in it. Place the tote in your garage/carport/deck , wherever, as long as it doesn't freeze up. It was 65-70 degrees here in Washington and my pond water was 55*F, in my garage the unheated tank I have was 69.7F. Your goldfish will be fine, they are hardy and cold water fish, just make sure to acclimate the water that they are in currently to the new location, temp AND water conditions matter for all fish.
