My kids have two gold fish ( 1 black moor and 1 fantail) in a 20 long. I am upgrading them to a 40 breeder this week.

The fish are 3 years old so I have been meaning to upgrade them for a while. My reason for asking these questions now is I don't want to have to upgrade again.

Questions
1. How many gold fish can I have in a 40b can I add 1 or 2 more?
2. Can a common gold fish go with my fancy gold fish?
3. Are there plants that work with Gold fish?

1. Whats the filtration plan?
2. Yes, a "common" goldfish is a comet
3. I am sure there are.

Filtration - I forget the filter brand I have on it but it is rated for a 55 gallon. So I should be good with filtration and I do weekly water changes.

good to know. I didn't realize they get that big.

Here a video that I have handy because i'm trying to sell this tank... those same two comets about 2 years ago in a 140... they're probably about 6-8 inches in this video.

so that answers that comets are out.

What about 1 more fantail or ryukin?

Yeah, I wish I remembered the name of the guy on this site that is all about goldfish... he's got some huge fancy ones and some great videos of them... they keep their same body ratio... so they're huge, fat and heavy fish. Definitely a huge bio load... once a few years old the two will be pushing that 40.

I know who you are talking about and I can't remember either. I though for sure he would have chimed in.
