It's hard to say. I guess you could do that and try an antibiotic. I don't know what else to say. There's no way to know what you fish died from.
I know there's probably no way you would have thought of this, but you should have dissected it and see what's up with the organs.

I thought of it and about passed out thinking of it.

Well it would have been a good idea to do so, or have a friend do it.

If in the case that another fish should die from similar symptoms try to dissect it and look at organs for any nodules or anything that looks unnatural.

UPDATE: He is very skinny now, he use to be fat. He was swimming around earlier today when I was feeding, doing the samething. He takes some pellets and spits them out. But searches the surface for food. He has always ate these pellets. I have noticed black specs on the top of his body. All other fish still doing fine.
