Goldfish with Popeye, black/deep red scales and bloated

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is a lil better the pop eye subsided a bit
The fish is still mostly the same but
It’s eating which is weird for a sick fish and swims around like normal
I don’t think it’s dropsy

You do realize that dropsy is not a disease, right? Dropsy is simply the name given to describe a set of symptoms that indicate a number of actual diseases and conditions. Thinking of it as a disease is sort of like calling a fever a disease...when it's actually just a general symptom that can be caused by many factors.

Is this fish in that tank you have shown in other posts, with a large number of large koi and goldfish bumping into each other in cloudy water? If so, I think we may have discovered the cause of the symptoms.

None of those fish require a heater in their tank. If you decide to add one, be aware that raising the temperature of that tank will decrease the level of dissolved oxygen, possibly stressing all the fish even further.

Clean water, bigger water changes done more often, remembering to plug the filter in, all will help those fish out.

Yes I do realize dropsey is not a disease in itself, it can be caused by internal infections and kidney failure. My air stones are pretty strong in this tank, i didn’t add a heater because it got hot and the water was already pretty warm, it is the same tank I am trying to get the pond it’s just funds are low currently; I do water changes till their on the side kinda very big
The filter is plugged in… at least I think it is?

Update: bad news fish is now floating around with severely nipped fins and an missing eye along with a badly nipped side, it’s not going to make it
