Quality of food available. The vegetation that goldfish would be able to graze on in the wild don't contain the color boosting ingredients that a lot of fish foods do.

I've seen lots of 'wild' goldies people have released that look almost as good as her. Not quite as large though..
 
you should watch as i am sure the law says if you catch a non native fish you have to kill it .

:D No, it means the lake is not owned by a city/county/state ie is owned by an individual, therefore laws regarding invasive species and collecting fish do not apply...

LOL. You could take it that way :D. It's a neighborhood lake, governed by a lake association. Along these lines, you could say I own ~1/200 of the lake. How's that?:D
