has anyone bred goldfish for feeders before?

I've tried and haven't been able too. I've had them for over a year now and nothing. :( There's all kinds of info on how to do it on the net though.

check ur goldfishes gills, if it has white bumps on it then it's a male, ones w/ no bumps are females, then jus warm up the temp. which will trigger the goldfishes mating process and you'll have babies by another month or so when the male is chasing the female

they are sexually mature at 1year (could be why you aitn got none yet) but the are at their sexual peak in there 3rd year...just so you know dont be discouraged.

I've bred fancy goldfish, and this is what i do:

keep the tank at room temp for 3-4 weeks, with only moderate lighting

after the 4 weeks, SLOWLY raise the temperature 3-5*, use more intense lighting, and set up spawning mops around the tank.

you'll have eggs in no time, but since im lazy i wont both typing out fry care.

My question is, whats the point of raising feeders, if they're only 8 cents at the lfs?
