How are you going to get flakes on a hook?

Goldfish are vegetarians by nature. Try pieces of oranges or put peas on your hook.

Goldfish will eat anything, plants oranimals. They are omnivores.

Goldfish food might actually work. You can put pellets in a little cloth bag like those used for salmon eggs. Salmon eggs also might work, so might anything you use for carp since they are fairly closely related and live a similer lifestyle. Try corn, doughballs, bread etc.

I always caught carp on pieces of corn as a kid, I'd assume it would work just as well with goldfish.

Ohter thing is if you have the time...... feed them at a certain time each day until they get used to it then you can bait your hooks with no problem. Theyre only shy because of no human contact... (well as much contact as a person and fish can have):naughty:

I caught a monster fan tail a few years back on worms the lake had huge catfish in it and I had 3 worms on a hook I have the picture of it some where the long and the short some one had used it a bait and it had survived in there as they were never stocked in there

i got a few goldfish in with my tanks and i'm getting nightcrawlers this weekend so i'll i'll dump one in the tank and see what happens.

The goldfish actually did go for TINY bits of nightcrawlers.
I didn't see them EAT it, but they would tear the pieces into even smaller ones.
