Golfer kills hawk with 'shot'

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would have liked to see him just miss the bird and watch the bird get startled, then pissed and attack him:headbang2

Honestly, I don't think the golfer himself would think he'd be able to hit the bird. It makes more sense he's trying to scare the bird away. I believe if Tiger Woods were to try and hit the bird 10 times, he would not hit the bird. It sounds more like an accident and Animal cruelty takes the opportunity to blow it up because it involves a CELEBRITY!!!

get a clue, bro:banhim::irked:

I don't know about the celebrity part... Based on the information on the first post, the act looks like its premeditated. He "accidentally" killed the bird you might say but come on, he is obviously hurling golf balls at the direction of the bird. And as most people and golfers know, a golf ball can crack tempered glass in car windshields and it can obviously hurt/kill birds.

Put it this way, you have a dog that is 30 feet from a kid. The dog is barking, but not necessarily at the kid. The kid tries to "scare" the dog away by throwing decent sized rocks at it. He unknowingly hits your dog. Your dog dies. Unfortunately your dog is a competition winning dog (this part shouldn't matter though). Would you try to get compensation from the kid's parents or just accept the fact that its an accident and that your pet dog that you love is gone.

This might be a wrong analogy but its the best that I can come up with. Dogs are considered property and an endangered bird is/should be worth more than a dog in my opinion. Its not about the money but about the punishment and taking responsibility for your actions. Although one can argue that you can just punish the kid in the analogy that I made above, in the golfer's case, a big fine.

i heard this, this morning driving to work.... gatta give it to him, he's got amazing accuracy!@ ;;)

My first thought was that it had to be an accident and that he was trying to scare it away. I can hit a whole bucket of balls at a large target on the ground and only hit it 50% of the time, trying to hit a 1 square foot target would take alot of dumb luck. However, he should have stopped when he got really close to hitting it and the bird didnt fly away, obviously at that point the bird isnt going anywhere. the fact that he kepy trying and said "I'll get him this time" makes it sound like he was actually trying to hit the bird, not scare it away.

My friend once hit a squirrel, but thats cause it sliced into a tree, not his fault, wasn't aiming for it (didnt know it was there till we were looking for his ball).
