I was golfing with my dad and brother for father's day. We were on the first hole. Now keep in mind I have never been golfing before. So I teed off and sliced the ball and it went really high and came down the the road bouncing off the side of a mini van. So we finished up the other 8 holes and when we got back to the bar the bartender was like a man stopped by saying that you guys hit him with a ball and left his number. I was like okkkk? My question is can we be held accountable for this? I mean it must happen a lot being that the fair way is paralle with the road.

The best part is that the ball was playable. lol

Thanks
Mike

I dunno... My mum once had a golf ball go through her windscreen and you could never prove who it was. That's what you get when a main road goes through a golf course.

i don't know about legality but "morally" no it shouldn't be your fault for shanking a ball.

I don't know that legally you are liable for this, the golf course may be though. They have plenty of reason to think that this kind of thing could happen and they should take some steps to try and prevent it.

Also if this is in a golf club type neighborhood and the mini van is a resident, they know the possibility is there and somewhat assume the risk.
