I think females and males are different- I used to own mexican redknees- the males live like 5 years while the female lives to be around 30 years...



very fun pets to own for display I agree about the hairs being annoying.

I wouldn't handle them personally as no one knows if they're allergic to them unless they get bit. Like bee stings- no one knows they're allergic until they get stung- its possible someone can be allergic to those guys. So keep that in mind when handling any tarantulas.


ERIC: Was wondering how skittish are those bird-eaters? Do they really have to eat lizzards/anoles etc as an essential part of their diet? I'm not crazy about the part of feeding mice/lizards etc any kind of bugs I'm fine with but not with any animal with a spine.

They aren't skittish at all........Being a big Spider, they need to eat big things.........Crickets aren't going to cut it, so they get what easiest for me, and thats Anoles and House Geckos.......They don't discriminate though, anything that's smaller than them is fair game.......
 
ty for info, can't keep those for sure then as can't stomach the feedings then lol.

yea im not liking the whole "feed lizards" thing either, poor little geckos
