So i just got a new hydrocynus goliath 3 days ago and this is what he did to his snouth rubbing against the glass all the time. I turned off the lights got him a moonlight and taped the sides to try and make him calm. Nothing does the trick. So if anyone has any ideas on what to do i would be greatful otherwise i am afraid he will be dead soon if he keeps it on.

If all of that has failed check your water, your flow and your aeration. If the no3 is out of wack, he'll wig out. Current helps him calm down. If your d02 is off, he'll wig.

Edit: man he's really jacked up his grille.

And do not tap the glass in any case....

The water quality is perfect. The only thing that it is missing is the aeration which i will add right away. I hope that does the trick. Fingers crossed. It's like his snouth was sanded down or something. Thank you for your help Chic! I will keep the thread updated how things turn out.

Holy crap, his mouth is almost gone!

What is "perfect"? Perfect for most fish will cause an ATF to stress terribly bad. The ideal target no3,for these is 15 or less. They start stressing at about 20 and act like yours by 40.

The no3 is just around 10 so that should be good. Is it normal for them to display this kind of behaviour?

Does he have any tank mates? I had an ATF and when I first got it I kept it alone. I couldn't turn on the light or get near the tank without it freaking out. A couple weeks later I added four tarpon ( I think any shiny silver fish would do ) and within minutes the ATF settled in, the lights went on and it started eating. Just my experience but this did wonders for my ATF. Good luck
